It was exciting for me to be asked to write the short stories for the
lovely songs created by JoySoul Corporation. My inspiration came
from the many wonderful students that I had the privilege of teaching
in my twenty-nine year career. I hope that you enjoy them.

As you can see from my picture above, I am surrounded by frogs!
My students noticed my fascination for them during our yearly units
on the rainforest. Frogs began showing up on my desk quite
frequently. There were frog pins, a frog vase, stuffed frogs, frog keychains, rock frogs, jumping frogs, croaking frogs, and frogs of
every kind--even live ones! They are each filled with a special memory.

every kind--even live ones! They are each filled with a special memory.
One of the funniest incidents occurred, one morning, while I was visiting with a parent before school. A student came up to me and plunked two lively little frogs into my hand. They really tickled and made me laugh! We soon found a container for them and everyone got to enjoy them until I took them home.
On our wheat farm in North Dakota, near the Canadian border, we had toads by the zillions, but very few frogs. I always looked forward to rainy days, as the toads always came out. They were big, small and middle sized. As soon as it would quit raining, I would haul out my red wagon and collect toads until it was filled. It was such a "hoppy" sight! I would then proudly head to the house to show them to my mother. I soon found out that she didn't like toads much, but it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for the little creatures.
I'm so glad that God gave us animals.
