God has given us so many beautiful places on this earth. Here are some really neat places that we have explored. Have you explored your neighborhood, your town, your state, your country? If you look very closely you can see clues about God. When you look at many different flowers, you start to understand that God loves all different colors and shapes and sizes. It's the same with people. God loves everyone, no matter what country we are from or what language we speak.
Here is a picture of the place where the Missouri River meets together with the Yellowstone River.
When rivers come together like that, it's called a confluence. If you live in Trenton, North Dakota, you live near this confluence.
The word for confluence in German is
'der Zusammenfluss.' Zusammen means together and fluss means river to give us togetherriver. But of course, the English word that we use is 'confluence.'
You can say 'confluence' or you can say
'der Zusammenfluss.' It's still the same
picture, right?

At the Missouri-Yellowstone confluence there is a building called the Interpretive Center. It has sketches and pictures of the confluence and tells the history of the area. There you will find out about how some explorerers long ago, named Lewis and Clark discovered the confluence. It's called an interpretive center because there is a lot interpret, or translate to the visitor about what happened and is still happening in that place.
This picture is of a beautiful rug at the Center and it shows how the rivers look when placed on a map. If you look very closely you will see some directional abbreviations like NE, which means the direction northeast. The rug was made by the North Dakota Historical Society.
At the Interpretive Center there are volunteers that tell people about the history of that place. Volunteers are people who do things without getting paid for doing them. The volunteers go there and work because they love history and they know how important it is to learn about what has happened. There are so many interesting stories about Lewis and Clark and those stories give us courage to try new things and go new places ourselves.

I asked one of the volunteers if I could take a picture of their beautiful rug for our website. It's always a good idea to ask people for permission to take things. If you 'take' a picture of something or someone, you are taking something that actually belongs to them. Their picture, or image belongs to them and so out of respect for that person you should ask them if you can use their image.
That reminds me that in the Bible, God says that we are made in His image. That means that when we look at someone else, or when we look in the mirror we are seeing how God is. Is God short or tall, fat or skinny, brown or white or even sunburned? Well, maybe what God really means is that we are all a part of Him. He made us all shapes and sizes. He made us to be loving and kind and caring. And He made us to be a part of Him. That makes each and every one of us really, really important to God! Just like the Caterpillar CAT Digger in the image above, we each have very important jobs to do in this world. One job you might have right now is to go to school and learn so that you can figure out what kind of things you can do well. Just like there are all kinds of different CAT Digger models, each one of us is a different model! God didn't make us able to be good at everything, but we can all find something that we can do well. And sometimes looking for that is hardest job of all!
